I’m doing laundry now, getting ready for the Chicago Marathon. I leave tomorrow. What was I thinking? I’m not ready, but I’m going anyway. I bought some disposable cameras to take pictures during the race. I figure I’ll have plenty of time to get some shots in before they have to send a search party out to get me. It’s exciting to be so close to something that is so new for me. I was always the beefy sissy guy. Running a marathon is something I never thought I would do. Okay, I haven’t done it yet, but I’m leaving tomorrow.

Hurrah, I’m still employed! I don’t know how that happened. I saw the Human Resources person in the supermarket after work. She asked me if I had my resume posted yet. That’s pretty scary. Meanwhile, I’m learning more software and adding stuff to my portfolio. Hopefully I’ll still have a gig when I get back from the marathon.

I’ve been playing around with the idea of hosting a public access cable show. I don’t know what that’s going to entail yet. I’ll be researching it next month. I figure I can link it into a web site. I’m a regular Oprah.

I’m still hyped from my writing group meeting last weekend. I’m thinking about my book and I think I can make it work. Now I just have to make myself work. I’m still dragging my feet about getting into the middle of the story. You read about how hard it is to get past the middle and you think, “that won’t be my problem” and you’re wrong.

Next posting will be after the race. I’m going to keep a journal on the weekend. It should be interesting.

Saturday was my first writing group meeting. We formed the group after taking a class together at the Gay Community Center’s Learning Curve. The Learning Curve has plenty of classes to offer and they’re always cheap. That’s a good combination. http://www.laglc.org/village/LC-Classes.html

Anyway, we met and decided how we were going to conduct our group. Everyone read, except for me. I did mention the killer week I had, right? I get recharged whenever I spend time with people who are doing the same thing I am and we can talk about it. My friend Keith would use his Forumese and call it “Staying in the conversation.” That’s what it is, too. Keeping your thoughts on what you’re about.

This weekend is the Chicago Marathon. I’ll be there. I’ll be running. Paramedics will carry me off shortly after that. I wasn’t training this last month or more and I’m going to pay for it come Sunday. I’m looking forward to it though. It’s something new.

Job-wise my supervisor tells me that there was a contract negotiation. Hopefully I’ll be included in that contract. I’m not stressing that. I will have work because I’m good at what I do and I enjoy doing it.
